To assist in the supervision and coordination of activities of associates in the Bakery Department. To greet and provide customers with courteous service. Observe company guidelines on merchandise presentation - sanitation - good service and suggestive selling. Assume responsibility for the operation of the department in the absence of the manager. Fill customer orders and write up special orders. Answer questions about ingredients - price - and freshness or products. Write messages on cakes with icing. Total customers bill - receive payment and make change. Bag customer purchases. Set up and maintain displays and sample trays. Make sale signs. Mark prices on merchandise. Stock shelves - traysetc. with new products and rotate merchandise. Clean shelves - bins - cases - and tables as necessary. Working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Randalls / Tom Thumb Employee Handbook and Orientation Handbook. High School diploma or equivalent. One year previous Bakery experience. Demonstrated knowledge of Randalls/Tom Thumb Bakery Department operations and procedures. Working in varied temperatures in a busy environment. Independent mobility within the store. Standing and walking for six to eight hours. Occasionally stooping and crouching to reach merchandise in display and/or stock area. Manual dexterity to handle merchandise. Finger dexterity sufficient to handle papers - register keyboard and moneys. Ability to effectively communicate with customers and co-workers. Vision sufficient to read product labels - coupons and prices. Strength to lift - push - or pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Ability to work a flexible schedule. Perform other duties as required. Must have neat appearance and good communication skills.
